Caring For Your New Lawn

Whether your new lawn began from seed, sod or other approach it is important to realize that your lawn requires intensive lawn care when it is developing and becoming established. Providing appropriate care early on will help you establish a healthy, lush lawn with minimal problems.

Special Care Requirements for New Lawns Include:

  • Frequents and light watering while root system is becoming established
  • Special care when mowing for the first time
  • Limited traffic and wear to your lawn for the first few weeks

Once the lawn is established apply nitrogen fertilizer:

  • For Sod, Sprigs, Stolons or Plugs: About 6 weeks
  • For Seeds: About 4 – 6 weeks after germination

Once you’ve established a healthy, lush yard, create a “Lawn Maintenance Program“.
